Listening to Evgeny Kissin perform Liszt's 'Rhapsodie espagnole' feels like stepping into another world. The way his fingers dance across the keys and the emotions he pours into each note - it's simply captivating. I can't help but marvel at his skill and passion. His performance always manages to touch something deep within me.
And stephen hough's. His one is technically and musicaly better than this one and he's added bits of his own that brings this piece to a whole new level.

When he hits that final chord 13:32 he curls his fist in defiance. He's saying "SUCK IT, LISZT, YOU PUNK BEYOTCH!!" Damn. He set that piano on FIRE! My fingers ache just watching him. I can't believe anyone could ever play that way. Its superhuman.
@@andreusdelvonamichel137 There are wrong notes sprinkled throughout this performance. I have yet to hear a note-perfect performance of this very difficult work. Even the greatest pianists make mistakes from time to time!

For a cool experience, first watch his earlier (like when he was 13 years old or something) Japan recital by typing in “Evgeny Kissin in Tokyo”. That one was posted by Yi June, & has a little better video quality than some of the other blurry ones I’ve seen. Pretty neat to see him younger first, then revisiting Japan as a 19 (or so) year old.
@@bendmymind486 Thank you very much! I wonder why I thought it had disappeared. I think I was trying to find Kissin's Grieg Op.41 No.3 and no videos from Japan were showing up, but I knew he played it there. Sure enough, it's in that video. And I agree, seeing Kissin's growth is incredibly cool.
It is hard to judge the piano by the sound if it, especially with a highly tuned recording by the editor (publisher). But through the inside design and the logo on it, I’m certainly sure that it’s a Yamaha.
Dont know where there is. Probably Japan but possibly SKorea. Isnt it interesting how these two countries are absolutely passionate about Western classical music, whereas the interest in China or SE Asia is only moderate, and the interest in India is very minimal, even though India has embraced the English language, literature and law wholeheartedly.
The fact that you care more about Kissin's infinitesimal mistakes (enough to comment the exact same thing twice!) than the brilliance that is this performance on a whole is incredibly telling, and not in a favourable way...
Only a child when this was recorded. I’d be interested to hear him play it today.
This man was put on the planet to play this piece.
Andrew Tweed really a good interpretation
Great performance, great player, great recording, and most of all great hair!
best version that ive heard
Kissin really gave some staggering performances when he was young.
I agree 100+% on that.

Lazar's or Marshev's performances are significantly better. Kissin's pale and soulless compared to theirs!

あまりにも素晴らしく、この年齢で、完成されていると思っていたけど、さらに進化したキーシンは凄すぎます。不謹慎ですが、ふわふわの髪の毛を触ってみたいです。
It would be a waist of time to hear anyone else play this work. Kissin plays every note with total conviction and complete authority.
